POKOTABI / Otona no Sakaba Yama
オトナノサカバ ヤマ
Ekoda’s Otona no Sakaba Yama pairs thoughtful seafood dishes, from young Pacific bluefin tuna to monkfish liver with scallops, with classic bar bites, Kagoshima shochu, and tea-infused highballs. Pull up a stool at the counter or settle into a table.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Once 5:00 rolls around and you are looking to linger over thoughtful food and drink, Otona no Sakaba Yama makes an inviting retreat. The blackboard reflects the day's catch, showcasing seafood such as young Pacific bluefin tuna, wild Japanese amberjack, monkfish liver with scallops, and ankimo ponzu. When choices abound, starting with the chef's assorted appetizers lets you sample a variety of seasonal bites as you ease into your first glass.
The beverage lineup leans heavily on characterful honkaku shochu brought in from Kagoshima. Aromatic pours such as Flamingo Orange, with its bright citrus notes, Coolmint Green, and banana-tinged Sunny Cream are particularly enjoyable served over ice. The bar also sources its tea leaves from local merchant Cha no Marumiya, crafting refreshing tea highballs—including Tartary buckwheat tea, Chiran green tea, and roasted hojicha—that cleanse the palate between savory bites.
Familiar izakaya staples anchor the food menu alongside the seafood: crisp-outside, juicy-inside fried chicken, comforting old-fashioned potato salad, and dashi rolled omelet made with free-range eggs from Nagano Prefecture. Refined small plates such as shiitake mushrooms stuffed with minced shrimp in ginger sauce, crunchy cartilage, and house pickles steeped in Chidori vinegar speak to meticulous preparation. Draught Sapporo Black Label, medium bottles of Akaboshi, highballs, and wine provide plenty of options to tailor the meal to your liking.
Seating includes both counter stools and dining tables, making the space just as fitting for dropping in solo as it is for gathering over a shared meal. Evening reservations are accepted, and cashless payments—including major credit cards and PayPay—are supported at checkout.
